Dream and Make It Come True

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Recently, an opinion has been brought to my attention. This opinion stated that if you are to engage in a project, you should dedicate wholly and completely to it. A resonable statement, to be sure, but it lacks reality.

As human beings, it is our nature to be involved in many things at once. I, personally, see devoting yourself to a single project quite limiting. That’s why I’m in the process of writng this drawn strip, and launching a comic that I will also write. Also, while we at FABLE wait for our work to generate some income, I’ve gotten a full time job, I spend time with my family, friends, and girlfriend. I’m also writing a novel, and running a table-top RPG.

We owe it to ourselves to engage in as many projects as it is humanly possible. Actually, it has been proven time and again that one person is capable of having multiple projects going on, and still produce quality work! The trick is to always do your best, and trust yourself.

If you always do your best, you’ll still make mistakes. But you’ll learn from them, and you’ll make sure you don’t repeat them ever again.

If you trust yourself, your work will always be true to you.

If you dedicate yourself to one thing, and one thing only, you’ll stop growing professionally and personally. If you know you’re able to undertake multiple projects at once, there’s nothing stopping you but yourself.

Here’s a little secret:

Your heart must always tell you what to do.

Your mind must always tell you how to do it.
